Hadwen Park Church needed a website that reflected its warmth, history, and fearless commitment to being an open and affirming congregation

Like many churches, Hadwen Park was navigating lower attendance, post-pandemic shifts, and the need to reach people in new ways.

Beyond holding important church information, the website needed to help people understand the church’s values, access livestreams and events, and feel confident taking a first step through the door.

The church needed a clearer digital home for its history, ministries, events, livestreams, news, and community resources. More importantly, the site needed to communicate the feeling of the congregation, especially its commitment to being open and affirming across race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and lived experience.

The challenge was modernizing the church’s online presence without making it feel disconnected from the people who make the community special. The site also needed to be sustainable for a small team, making it easier to keep content updated without creating unnecessary maintenance barriers.

I focused on building a website that felt welcoming and easy to maintain. The structure was redesigned around the member and visitor experience, making relevant information easier to navigate while creating opportunities for the church to share updates, livestreams, events, ministry programs, and community stories.

Behind the scenes, I prioritized a CMS platform and structure that would support faster content editing, collaborative workflows, SEO, integrations, domain maintenance, and long-term sustainability.

I also helped lay the foundation for a refreshed visual identity through logo refinement, a supporting monogram, and brand photography/videography. The goal was to create a digital experience that felt more aligned with the church’s mission.

outcome

The redesign became a meaningful point of conversion for visitors. Around 90% of new visitors mentioned the website as part of what encouraged them to visit, demonstrating its impact on the church’s first impressions and growth efforts.
